Women from Qatar who changed the world
Today in Qatar, women are actively fighting for gender equality. Women of the peninsula have reached great heights in art, fashion, culture, education. Great progress is also considered that in 2012, four women participated in the Qatar Summer Olympics. Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser
The wife of the former emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, for twenty years inspires women of Qatar and the whole world for new achievements. Sheikha Mozah has acted internationally as UNESCO and United Nations Ambassador for Science and Community Development. Under the leadership of Sheikh Moza, the country opened branches of eight international universities, dozens of schools, museums, research institutes, launched many cultural and charitable programs, including the opening of the modern National Library of Qatar. Sheikh Moza teaches, first and foremost, to set ambitious goals and achieve them.
Sheikha Al-Mayassa
The sister of the ruler, the head of the Department of Museums and one of the most influential women in art, Sheikha Al-Mayassa does everything so that her native country becomes the epicenter of the cultural life of not only the Middle East but also the world. She opened a program to introduce art into public spaces, thanks to which in different places of the city you can see the works of Damien Hirst, Richard Serra, KAWS, Ali Hassan and other famous artists. Under the leadership of Sheikha Al-Mayassa, the Doha Film Institute also opened. Under her supervision, a number of museums and exhibition spaces were built in Doha.
Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani
Sheikh Al-Mayassa's younger sister, Sheikha Hind Hamad Al-Thani is the Deputy Chairman and Executive Director of the Qatar Foundation, a large-scale organization with about five thousand people that is engaged in science, education, art, healthcare, music and cultural development of Qatar. With the goal of attracting as many women as possible, Her Excellency announced that since 2020 women will make up half of the total number of participants in the Qatar Foundation events - in order to be able to express their opinions on socially significant issues and be heard. Sheikhа Hind also oversees the Doha Education City, the Qatar Foundation, in which she combines the positions of vice chairman and CEO.
Bouthayna Al-Muftah
The a artist Bouthayna Al-Muftah studies the cultural heritage of her country, expressing ideas in the graphics and design of books, which later led her to create numerous installations. For a long time, she studied the history of Qatar.
Today, her work is expressed in a number of original paintings, drawings and installations, in which the history of Qatar is encrypted.
